Reviews to "Dealing With The Devil"
"John Mooney has forged an intensely personal style by merging electrified country blues with New Orleans second-line rhythms. His fiery command of old-time rural styles, especially slide guitar, is partly due to a long association with blues pioneer Edward "Son" House. House also influenced Mooney’s tortouos, passionate vocals, with their growls, falsettos, and quirky embellishments. Mooney is his own man, though, not a mere revivalist, and this is most obvious in the many creative ways that he toys with rhythm. He stands out as a major talent, and one of the most distinctive blues artists working today." ( Downbeat)
