Freddie Roulette

Spirit of Steel - 1999

Freddie Roulette is a true original. He has forged a unique personal approach to the 8-string lap steel guitar that is instantly identifiable; even one note is enough to let you know its Freddie. Hes usually referred to as the greatest_of blues lap steel players. But the thing about Mr. Roulette is that he is much, much more than a blues player. Like Bob Wills, Jerry Garcia, Bill Frisell, or Ry Cooder, he is an_American Roots Music player who transcends the basic idioms of American popular musics and not only plays rock, soul, blues, country, jazz and classical but creates new hybrids of these idioms that are uniquely his own.

Man of Steel - 2006

Freddie Roulettes second T & M release was produced by Henry Kaiser and also features Kaiser himself on guitar, David Lindley (1 track) and the Emerson Brothers from Hawaii. The veteran lap-steel player from California again proves to be a true original who likes to delve into many different genres. Soul, blues, country, funk, Hawaiian, R & B and pop all played with soul and passion. A wonderful roots music album for every time of the day featuring wonderful guitars and a relaxed groove. The most welcome comeback of a man who sounds like nobody else.
